Easy access to Skills & Employment
A new online tool for employers provides easy access to skills and employment the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) announced today.
Employers can now get more comprehensive, practical help and information about boosting the skills of their workforce, thanks to the launch of new online tool, talentmap(TM).
talentmap(TM) is designed to make navigating the UK’s skills and employment maze simple. Through it, employers should be able to access sources of public funding, learn more about which organisations can help them develop their workforce and learn more about how the education, employment and skills systems fit together and how they can make the most of them.
It uses state-of-the-art ‘spidering’ technology to interrogate around 100 further sites - including our website for the Justice sector - and aims to ensure the most relevant information is returned to the user.
The tool is the brainchild of Sir Mike Rake, Chairman of BT PLC, who said:
"There is a huge amount of help and support available for employers, but unfortunately it’s not always easy to access. This new web resource helps ‘hide the wiring’ in the system a bit by enabling users to search the websites of virtually all publicly-funded organisations with an interest in education, employment and skills simulaneously."
When the final product is launched later this year, it is likely to include many more tools, including the ability to develop and share a bespoke training plan; information about businesses and not-for-profit organisations who may also provide support and access to a comprehensive list of training and development opportunities.
talentmap(TM) can be accessed at www.talentmap.ukces.org.uk.
