11 Recognition

National Occupational Standards provide a framework for the fair and safe assessment of workers’ performance.

Where workers consistently perform to the standards required, it may be appropriate to recognise this through, for example:

  • Confirming the workers in their posts
  • Regrading them
  • Providing certificates of competence
  • Providing financial rewards
  • Or through a combination of these

The way competent performance is recognised will be a matter for local policy.
